When do I use the "Teachers" page?
You may find the "Teachers" section useful for:
- Learning in which theory, discussion, reading, thinking, and lecture formats might seem more useful than "showing you" by hands-on learning (Skills).
- Finding people who often use a more academic teaching style, emphasizing theory and interpretation of texts, as distinguished from learning specific tangible skills.
Please note that we use the term "teacher" to refer to someone able to "teach what they know" (as contrasted to "Skill-models", who "teach what they can do".) As such, "teacher" might refer to (but is in no way limited to) formally-credentialed teachers or persons with professional academic status.
Generally these learning arrangements will involve paying the teacher for his or her time spent teaching you about the book or topic of mutual interest.
The "Teachers" section enables you to:
- Search (and make posts) for someone who can help you discuss a book you want to learn about (or alternatively, who can help you learn and discuss a film, article, or piece of music you want to learn more about, etc.)
- Search (and make posts) for someone who wants to read and discuss a book you are able to help them with (or alternatively, wants to discuss and learn more about a film, article, or piece of music you are able to help them with, etc.)
- Make posts inviting people to contact you who either can teach you what you want to learn, or who want to learn what you teach.
